ABOUT
More Than Pet People
The NWA Bed & Biscuit was founded in 2024 when Vanessa and her husband built a second home on their property and, after moving, found themselves with an empty house next door and a heart full of love for dogs. Dog boarding was a small, solo endeavor on the side while Vanessa worked as a nurse. Despite the workload, the relationships she built with her regular clients motivated her to carve out the extra time every day to make sure each dog felt special at their home away from home.
As the number of dogs she cared for increased, she didn’t want the quality of attention to decrease. That’s when she hired Maggie. After working for doggie daycares with 70+ overstimulated dogs and overwhelmed employees, Maggie shared Vanessa’s vision: a calm, structured, home-like environment with a limited capacity to prioritize individual needs. The NWA Bed & Biscuit currently has a maximum capacity of 12 dogs with an employee to dog ratio of 1 to 6, whereas dogs outnumber employees at some local facilities by about 20 to 1.
When your dog stays at the NWA Bed & Biscuit, they’re not just another dog in the yard— they’re one of our dogs. They follow us around the house while we clean, play fetch in the halls, and fall asleep on our laptop while we write this biography. Our goal is that the B&B will always stand for what it was originally meant to be: a home.

FAQS
You’ve Got Questions. We’ve Got Answers.
Dietary Concerns:
-We can accommodate special diets including frozen and refrigerated food. -We prefer for parents to send their dog with their normal food, as sudden changes in diet can result in stomach problems. -We have a house supply of food in case your dog runs out of food or if you need to extend their stay. -We have a probiotic powder to soothe irritated tummies, which we also sell!
Special Health Needs:
-We can administer any medication your dog needs, including injections. Please be sure to inform us of any special instructions such as time of dose and whether it should be taken with or without food. -We accommodate dogs with mobility issues. Please inform us of the degree of support your dog needs before booking and send them with any equipment such as support slings and wheelchairs. We try our best to replicate the support and freedom of movement they have at home! -If your dog has severe health needs that require constant monitoring, please reach out to us so we can discuss the best course of action.
Pet Safety:
-All dogs are required to have up-to-date vaccinations for Rabies, Distemper, Parvo, and Bordetella. This not only protects your dog, but the other dogs they play with. Please contact us with any questions. -We will not allow dogs showing signs of transferrable illness into the house. -We do our best to maintain a safe and clean environment, but accidents do happen and sometimes illness is unpreventable. Just like sending your child to school, sending your dog to daycare does put them at risk of illness or injury. -If your dog shows signs of injury or illness while staying with us, we will quarantine them and contact you immediately to discuss next steps. If needed, we can take your pup to the vet and keep you updated along the way. -We have toys in the house for pups and wash them regularly. However, we will remove toys from a play group if anyone shows signs of resource guarding or destructive tendencies. -We require an orientation before dogs join our family to ensure they play well with other dogs and humans. -Unfortunately, we cannot accept dogs with unmanageable behavioral issues due to our limited capacity and commitment to a calm atmosphere for other boarders. If your dog is not accepted, we would love to refer you to a trusted trainer in the area and reevaluate after they complete a program!
Boarding Routine:
-Dogs are usually free to roam around the house and yard during the day and sleep in appropriately sized kennels at night. See the Our House page for a tour of the amenities! -We do not typically have someone stay overnight with the dogs, but the owner lives in another house just steps away in case a need arises. If your dog requires constant monitoring, we may be able to have a staff member sleep over during your dog’s stay for an additional cost. -We provide all necessary supplies to make a dog comfortable, but you may bring any toys, beds, blankets, etc that will help your dog feel at home during their stay. We keep all personal items in your dog’s kennel to prevent protective or destructive behaviors between boarders. -Dogs are fed in kennels and rest for at least an hour to reduce the chance of bloat (a rare but life-threatening condition that can occur more frequently in larger breeds).
